Office Assistant (Full Time Position)

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team! Under the direction and supervision of the General Manager, the custodial staff will be responsible for ensuring that our guests have a safe, clean and enjoyable experience while at our facilities. The Office Assistant reports to the Program Manager and General Manager, this employee performs diversified work related to supporting the arena programming, outreach to the First Nations villages within the Upper Skeena and customer reception in accordance with established practices and procedures. In addition, this employee provides general administrative support including but not limited to: reception, word-processing, spread sheeting, research, record keeping, booking requests and generating rental contracts and reports. Some custodial work will be required in this position.
The successful candidate will be expected to train on many aspects of facility operations including and not limited to janitorial functions, office functions, support to facility programming and community programming.
This position is responsible for working with the Program Manager in working on a wide range of community focused seasonal recreational programs and special events within the Recreation Department to improve the social interaction skills, academic abilities, and physical and psychological well-being of community members.
The Office Assistant is expected to work 40 hours per week, including evening or weekend shifts, (overtime maybe required).

The following experience, education & certifications are an asset:
- Completed grade 12
- Post- secondary, certification, tickets or formal training in;
- office administration
- computer skills
- word processing
- database and spreadsheets
- communication applications
- registration systems
- standard first aid and CPR-C with AED
- WHMIS 2015
- valid experienced class 5 valid driver’s license (Saskatchewan)
- Experience with;
- cash handling and payment processing
- recreation programming
Required Knowledge and Ability
Knowledge of and Ability to:

- complete duties in a safe manner, following established safety rules and regulations.
Essential Functions:
- provides leadership and direction to volunteers and youth leaders, in respect to day-to-day work, training, development & motivation, discipline and termination to ensure optimum utilization of resources
- assists in the preparation of communication resources, brochures, bulletins, press releases, program schedules, inventories, requisitions and maintaining sufficient program equipment and supplies
- informs the Program Manager of incidents and developments of an operational or political nature that relate to the recreational interests of the company
- scheduling of facilities and equipment, booking requests, inputting information into a booking program and generating contracts & reports
- perform janitorial duties and routine building maintenance
- provides telephone reception for the main fffice, answer and forward all in-coming telephone calls, providing information, taking and relaying messages
- assist with set up and take down for community events occurring at the facilities
- assist the Program Manager in providing a successful volunteer program
- performs other job-related duties as assigned and required to maintain a functional recreation center
- maintain dress code & attire provided by Recreation Excellence at all times
- perform janitorial duties as needed

- ensure that all work performed is in accordance with safety standards set forth in Worksafe Saskatchewan occupational health & safety manual and that pursuant to regulations are adhered to including the use of personal protective equipment

Wage to be determined based on experience and certifications. Employment includes a facility membership, and additional training and education opportunities. The successful candidates will require a Criminal Record Check and Working with Vulnerable Persons search prior to commencing work and must maintain a clean Criminal Record to remain on staff.
