Canadian Recreation Excellence Corporation is proud to have been selected by the City of Chilliwack to operate the City’s Recreation Centre’s (Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, Cheam Leisure Centre and Rotary Outdoor Pool) beginning in October 2015. We are in search of honest, hard-working, enthusiastic staff who are “Serious about Fun!”

Our search for staff includes the following position right now: Administration Supervisor

Reporting to the Adminsitration Manager and Facility Manager (or designate) and working in cooperation with the other CSR Staff, this employee will be responsible for helping to ensure that our patrons have a safe, enjoyable and FUN experience while at our facilities. The Administration Supervisor is the senior CSR Staff who is designated as the Supervisor when there is not a Specialist or Senior Manager scheduled. The scheduling of CSR Supervisor is at the discretion of the Customer Service Manager and/or a Facility Managers.

The Administration Supervisor will be the lead staff member to our Customer Service Representatives. The successful candidate will be a strong coach and mentor and provide positive leadership. Significant CSR experience would be an asset. The CSR Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and supervision of all staff involved in the delivery of CSR programs and services in the absence of the CSR Manager and/or Facility Managers.

Recreation Excellence’s emphasis is on the provision of safe yet dynamic aquatic programs and services and outstanding customer service provided in a clean and welcoming facility.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Your duties and responsibilities could include, but not limited to:

  • Greeting all guests, patrons and customers in a pleasant and friendly manner.
  • Answer questions about the facility, our organization and its programs and services professionally and accurately.
  • Be able to react to and work together with all departmental staff during medical emergencies and facility evacuations. Working as a cohesive team will ensure that everyone coordinates their responsibilities and ensures that the proper steps are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that our client’s and staff’s safety is a priority.
  • Supervise the CSR staff and provide recommendations to the Administration and Facility Managers; or designate regarding the evaluation of CSR staff.
  • Review and maintain staff and facility schedules as posted by Management.
  • Plan, direct and supervise staff in the conduct of customer service, programs, and special events.
  • Supervise and deliver high quality customer service for our clients by following the standards; guidelines provided by Recreation Excellence, and as recommended by our governing bodies.
    • Customer Services could include – Customer relations, Sale of Memberships, Advance Leadership Courses, Birthday Parties, Youth Programs (i.e. Rec Ex Xtreme Youth Night), and Special Events that take place in the pool.
    • CSR’s are required to read, understand and follow the Rec Ex Pool Safety Plan
    • Enforce facility / pool rules, and regulations for the safety and convenience of the public
    • Ensure that all work performed is in accordance with safety standards set forth in the WorkSafeBC Occupational Health & Safety manual
  • Provide excellent customer service for our clients.
  • Act in a professional manner and be well-groomed in appearance
    • Maintain dress code and attire provided by Recreation Excellence at all times
    • Maintain proper hygiene and a professional look at all times
  • Demonstrate the ability to resolve conflict effectively with both staff and guests.
  • Be on time for all assigned shifts or shifts covering for. Complete the proper shift coverage procedures.
  • Attend to and treat guests requiring first aid within the facility complex or on the property, if required.
    • Report all facility incidents, accidents or safety concerns to an Aquatic Specialist, Facility Manager or designate in a timely manner using the appropriate documentation procedure.
  • Work requires the use of initiative and good judgment and is performed under general supervision where considerable independence is allowed and required.
  • May be required to lift 50lbs or more, stand for long periods of time, bending and reaching.
  • It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that all required certifications are kept current and up to date to maintain employment.
  • Attend all mandatory In-service and Training sessions to maintain employment status.
  • May be asked to work or perform other related duties.
  • Administrating the Leisure Access Program (LAP)
    • Educating staff – on program & required documents
    • Educating Applicants – on program & required documents
    • Emails & Phone calls
    • Reviewing applications – checking all documentation, investigating of information ensuring it’s accurate, and up to date
    • Data entry – updating client information
    • Organizing of program & documents
    • Customer relations – complaints

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Principles, practices and application of basic first aid techniques
  • Operation of facility, including sanitation, maintenance, safety, and public relations
  • Rules and regulations pertaining to pool and gym use
  • Customer service standards and procedures
  • Troubleshooting through the use of good judgment
  • Computer Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and PerfectMind)

Ability to:

  • React quickly, calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Recognize hazardous situations and adopt effective courses of action
  • Keep privileged information confidential
  • Perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others
  • Work independently within the established policies and procedures of the department
  • Communicate orally in the English language in a one-on-one or group setting to deliver a wide variety of customer service skills and instructional techniques
  • Work cooperatively with staff and public to plan, organize, schedule, and promote activities designed to meet the interests and needs of the community
  • Maintain harmonious relationships with any and all facility guests and other staff members;
  • Enforce pool / gym rules and regulations
  • Ask for help, clarification or direction from the Administration Manager, Facility Manager or Specialist, if deemed appropriate

Required Education, Qualifications, Licenses and Certificates (valid and current)

  • Completed Grade 12
  • SFA and CPR C/AED
  • OFA Level 1
  • WHMIS


Salary: $34,320 Employment includes extended benefits after 6-months, mileage and cell phone allowance, facility membership, along with additional training and education.


The successful candidate will require a Criminal Record Check and Working with Vulnerable Persons search prior to commencing work and must maintain a clean Criminal Record to remain on staff.
